Sheila Marlborough is a local Sussex artist.
She works mostly in acrylics with landscape as a common subject, which is then made semi abstract, with the focus on colour and composition.
I just love the colours and the patchwork effect. It’s something I’ve been drawn to a great deal lately but which somehow never seems to quite work when I do it!
Observation and practice…
I also love this semi abstract idea, another concept I’ve been turning over in my mind lately. I love that there are recognisable elements but that you don’t have to be a slave to it.
Yes, those are trees, and that’s clearly sky and ground, but the rest? It can be anything you like!
I have been drawn to garden like maps lately myself. They tend to be more exact but I think they would be more abstract under my hand. Thank you for sharing this artist. 🙂
My mum would LOVE this artist – what amazing pictures.
ooh I love Sheilas work too, always find it inspiring. loving the patchwork theme of these too 🙂
