I’ve never been that into mermaids. I know that for those of a whimsical bent mermaids, fairies, angels and all other sorts of magical beings are quite the thing. And true, I have a fascination with angels. But mermaids I was never really getting. Then I saw this:
SLEEPING MERMAID AND BABY, 5 X 7 INCH PRINT OF A MAGICAL WATERCOLOR MERMAID PAINTING BY KATHRYN KELTON
It’s by Kathryn Kelton, who has an Etsy shop. I don’t know what it is about it but I can’t stop looking at it. It seems to touch me on a very personal level. It arrived today and I have framed it ready to go up as soon as I decide where. (You are also very privileged to be getting a sneak peek of my new living room wallpaper.)
Thank you Kathryn 🙂
Absolutely stunning x
Thank you for sharing this picture – it's lovely. Draws you in. Very womb like and comforting in a way.
Glorious wall paper!!
wow what a brave color for the loung! I love that mermaid painting as well, so delicate and womanly
BEAUTIFUL!!!
In this ethereal type of painting, there are so many levels of meaning revealed. The softness of the image is pleasing, and one tends to gaze upon it and lose themselves in it.
The obvious message is of total trust and love…the oneness between mother and child, tender and close.
Further yet, these two are asleep and dreaming. They are arranged in a face to face position, with their third eye centers closely aligned. Could they be sharing a dream? There is an intuitive, spiritual connection here.
And this just came to me…the symbolism of self and inner child.
These are mermaids, so there is the element of other, hidden worlds. The magic of discovering a precious fantasy come true.
I can see all of these things now. When I am painting, I just paint my vision. I have to study the finished work, like everyone else, to find the meanings within. Often, other people point out aspects that I had not imagined before =)
Thank you so much for sharing the print and your feelings about it, Tara! I'm so glad it touches your heart, and that you are enjoying the experience =) I truly cannot take full credit for the images that flow through me. They certainly come on waves of divine energy, and contain wisdom that we feel …even if we can't put it all into words, Kathryn
Love that one too! And your paper is gorgeous BTW.
