holy macaroni!

I was going to say a swear word {cause I really love them} but I have no wish to offend anyone so I went with something milder, with a more humorous edge. Which is naturally no longer humorous because I’ve over-explained now.

Anyway it’s because, in case you haven’t already been subjected to my crazed rantings in the last couple of days…………I’m going to Bali!

Freaking Bali!

You may be aware that I’ve been trying to plan a trip abroad for well over a year now. Again and again it wasn’t coming together, and I couldn’t understand why. In the end, in exasperation and defeat, I ‘handed it up to spirit’, as us woo woo types like to say, and then, BOOM. Danny, who is already in Bali, invited me to join him.

No brainer. {Fortunately. I seem to have temporarily mislaid my brain, along with my muse.}

So I leave in 11 sleeps, which alternately feels like no time and a lifetime. It’ll be two weeks in Bali and one in Malaysia. I’ve never been to either.

{Amber and me squishing}

In the whirlwind of excitement I have been neglecting my painting, unable to concentrate {mind you that’s not new}, eat or be still, and generally am being my most Piscean ungrounded, flighty self. :)   I haven’t done any Small Stones for ages! There are lots of paintings and things in the pipeline, but nothing to show yet, although I’m hoping to get in the studio today…

I did visit my sister and her family; there is something so warm and essential in life about being able to squish small children from time to time. This is baby Jae, my nephew. He’s just over three months old and I am so incredibly in love with him and his sister. He does this sleepy, drugged looking smiley gaze at you, and you don’t see the stork marks, just all the love he’s made of.

So yeah. No painting, no sketching, no small stones. I have been to the beach just once in a week! Things are really out of kilter round here! Hehe.

I will leave you with this funny little sign I found in Lewes the other day…

Normal service to be resumed shortly.

Maybe.

here is one my sister made earlier

I am an auntie again. :)

Baby Jay Whitbread, born 17th November 2011, 7lb 20z. Looks a bit like his sister (Amber, nearly two). I haven’t met him yet but am looking forward to squishing him {gently!} and smelling his baby smell. He has a few marks on his face; Amber had these too and they just faded away; apparently they’re called stork marks!

Goodness knows what Amber will make of this new change in her world…

Welcome to the world baby Jay! xxx
