You can dip your toe in Make ripples in the water's skin You can circle the outskirts Peer over the rim You can waver on the cusp Swap love for lust But you will never know How your heart can sing If you hold yourself in And don't give to yourself The Whole Big Beautiful Thing ****************** I wrote this last night. Actually it pretty much wrote itself.

I love it when poetry just happens
Wonderful words, and very true.
When something writes itself we can only grab the pen and go — I’m glad that you did. This is lovely, delightful and filled with joy!
Thanks Sherry; it was definitely one of those ‘where’s a pen’ moments! Makes me think of that story Elizabeth Gilbert tells in her TED talk about the poet who was chased by a poem across a field until she got home, found a pen and ‘caught’ it in her hand before it went thundering off and hit someone else.
Tara, this is absolutely beautiful. i love it when words just glide off your tongue and yours do…
Loved reading this. i actually read it quietly first, then read it out loud. Well, to myself at least. Beautiful. xox
