music and sketchbooks and roaring log fires

These are a few of my favourite things. ;)

Here’s a video of Breathe by Alexi Murdoch ~ new to me and already much listened to, although a quick recce tells me his music’s been on The OC, Prison Break and Stargate Universe, {which is where I found him}, so obviously not new to the world in general.

Nothing large going on, just some playing in front of the tv and trying things out. Superior photography courtesy of my phone.

{this is an ink blot painting inspired by Leah, although mainly just an excuse to doodle with my white pen.}

This is a) the first fire I’ve ever lit on my little own and b) the first fire I’ve lit in my flat since I moved in a year and three months ago. I’d say I’m a natural.

{because adding ‘and soup I made’ would’ve ruined the whole Mary Poppinsness in the title}

Soup that I made. Looks kind of radioactive. Tastes pretty good.

I'd love it if you'd share!

  1. lovely…all of it…..thanks for the new music, too — brilliant!

    (i’m dead jealous of your fire)

  2. But what KIND of soup is it Tara? Inquiring minds want to know. I’d love to visit with you and chat for a while in front of that lovely fire!

    Oh, and that painting cut up into cards from your previous post is brilliant!

    • Haha Kat, I wondered if anyone would want to know what kind of soup! I generally just throw in what’s in the fridge at the time and then freeze batches; I think this one was chicken and greens all whizzed up.

      Thanks both of you for the lovely comments. :)

  3. Am enjoying listening to Breathe – lovely acoustic – good words – like it! Love your doodling on the ink blot. Which white pen do you use? I have several all of which have their own downfalls. Not found a perfect one yet.

    Brilliant first attempt at a ‘real’ fire!! And your soup look yummy!! I love to make soup. We had spicy parsnip last Saturday, sat in the garden after clearing it all for the winter.

    • The white pen I used is by Uni and it says ‘uniPOSCA’, round tip/ultra fine. Apparently it’s ‘ideal to decorate photographs, postcards…Also suitable for most art, craft and hobby materials’. AND it’s waterproof! Who knew?! It’s kind of like those gold and silver pens you shake with a ball inside to get the ink flowing. It’s good, although the ink sank into the paint a bit and sometimes it sprays a bit.

  4. Well done for lighting your first fire. I love all the sea stones on the shelf above it.
