Last Thursday was the day of the photo shoot of my home for Style At Home magazine.

You may know that having my home featured in an interiors magazine has been a dream of mine since I was a small sprout of a thing and wanted to be an interior designer. I was always moving my bedroom furniture around and reading Living Etc. Hilariously I actually am a qualified interior decorator, but since I did that course over ten years ago it’s debatable whether I’m actually up to the task now. I used to know how to draw up technical plans for a room, including electrics. My preferred method is more ‘like it, pick it, throw it in, hope it works’.

Anyway, these days I restrict my interior decorating tendencies to my own home, which is all I need. In fact I had totally let go of the interiors magazine dream recently; I woke up one morning and realised it wasn’t on my list any more. That of course was the morning that I received the email saying Style at Home wanted to feature my flat. 🙂

The shoot took most of the day and was a lot of fun. Very interesting to learn how it all works behind the scenes. I took these photos on my phone so they’re not great quality but you get the idea. Olly the photographer took some beautiful shots, including about 826 of me in various poses. I’m not a fan of having my photo taken, but he made me laugh and some of the photos came out lovely actually. Louise, the homes editor, styled different parts of the flat for general shots and close ups; it was fascinating to watch her rearrange things and pull elements of the room together in ways I wouldn’t have thought of. I’ve left some of her set ups in place I like them so much.

The issue I’m in will come out in March. I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
